I don't think it's published but was calculated by Prep Scholar to be about 3.94.
Class rank is one of the primary indicators used by Admissions., not GPA. In addition to SAT/ACT Math, then SAT/ACT Verbal/Writing. With that being said, respectfully suggest disregarding "averages" which do not come into play with Admissions decisions.
wouldnt you say that "excelling" is based off of grades as well, which could have flaws? For example, if you are taking the same AP class at a school with harder course rigor, your grade would be lower than someone else at another school although you know the stuff better than the other person? One thing that could differentiate is AP tests such that even though you may have a B both semesters compared to someone with an A but you had a higher score, it'd reflect you knew the material more. The problem is the classes that don't have AP tests. Like for instance pre calc. You could have a lower grade in pre calc compared to someone but know the material more. You won't find it because in USNA's eyes, it's pretty pointless. GPAs -- and how grades are calculated -- are highly variable across tens of thousands of high schools. And not all GPAs are created equal. Hard to fairly compare a 3.0 in AP classes to a 3.5 in regular classes. Or a 3.5 in rural Iowa to a 4.0 in suburban Maryland. That's why USNA pays most attention to transcript and school profile. If you are taking the hardest classes your school has to offer, and excelling at them, then GPA doesn't matter much.
See previous threads on this very topic. What if your school doesn't class rank?
