USNA Has Not Received Transcript

I have had my entire USNA application at near complete status since around November 2018. However, the only Required Action I had to wait on was my Fall 2018 college transcript (available in Jan. for my college). I sent out my college transcript asap (very early Jan.), but the USNA still has no indication of receiving or processing it.

A few weeks ago, I contacted the admission staffer who handles physical mail for my state. I was informed that there was a backlog of mail, and it may take some time to process it all. I was also informed that I would be contacted by the admissions staff once my transcripts were received. I also sent a few e-mails before and after the Jan. 31 deadline to various UNSA admissions staff be proactive, and have my situation be noticed.

I am curious if anyone else is having a similar dilemma, or any advice to offer? I was told that as long as my transcript was postmarked before Jan. 31, my USNA application would still be valid. However, because a few weeks have passed, I am not sure if my transcript was even received. I am aware that the USNA has already sent out LoA and started their selection process. I would hate to have put in months of work just to have my application rejected because the mail system lost my transcript.

P.S.- I personally sent in my college transcript, accompanied with a supplemental letter from myself. I did this because I wanted to send in my supplemental letter with my transcript. Also, my college sends transcripts through an online 3rd party, and working with that company and their website is a nightmare (thus I had it delivered to my college for pickup, which is more reliable than having them send it out).

My DD sent in her HS transcript ...... it took 4 months to process. Hope yours is faster.

I don't believe USNA accepts transcripts that are sent by the candidate. They must come directly from the school. That may be one of the issues. I suggest you contact your RD.

Same boat, so don’t beat yourself up. DS sent it twice by Fedex: he’s still waiting to have the portal update. But has stopped checking for sanity’s sake I believe. His very experienced BGO reassured him he’d done all he could. If you haven’t contacted yours to let them know the situation, that’s a possible place for you to get reassurance too. Hopefully happy news is soon in your future. Fair winds etc!

My son had a similar situation. First he sent in his college transcripts through an on-line 3rd party (who is approved and used by the University) - he sent this 12/20 (the day the transcripts became available) However 3 weeks later he was contacted by USNA and told that USNA will not accept electronic versions. So he had the University send a paper copy (01/07). Never received. Then he resent a 2nd paper copy 01/17 (from the University) - never received. Finally the last week of Jan. he had the University send the transcripts FEdEx - overnight - with a "trackable signature" required. They were signed for on 01/30 and posted to his portal on 02/01. So it was quite a process. Good Luck! I can relate to your frustration!

1) For some reason, it's taking some time for Transcripts to be reflected on the system this year.
2) USNA has very explicit instructions on sending transcripts. FOLLOW THEM.

One of my original concerns was that the transcript could only be sent by the college, and not by the applicant directly. However, I believe as long as the transcript is sealed, official, and sent in the physical mail, I will be okay. I have explained my exact situation, in even more detail, to several USNA admissions staffers. None of them mentioned anything being wrong with how I sent in my college transcripts. I have also scoured the internet for information, and I did not come across much. If there is a certain web-page you are referring to, would you mind posting it?

Just as an F.Y.I. to anyone who comes across this thread with a similar situation. I had my transcript dilemma taken care of, and my application has been at a complete stats. Just make sure to maintain contact with officials, and cover all of your bases.

I recall my DS having a similar experience last year. For some reason the posting/updating of the portal acknowledging receipt of his transcript took much longer than you would have thought. Good luck everyone!!
