Or we do, and have already found a solution to the problem with the carts. It's simple and keeps Alumni flowing.
I've said it before, the image of Plebes pulling their little carts makes USNA look horrible. Some funny mime's being posted on my class (USNA!) Facebook page, comparing West Point (plebes hauling duffel bags bigger than themselves), USNA with its little carts, and USAFA checking in to a luxury hotel with bellhop delivering luggage.
Some staff officer probably got a NAM for solving a problem that doesn't exist. What is it, 500 yards from Alumni Hall to Bancroft ? Nemo has been a consistent defender of the laundry carts as a solution to the lack of buses, but frankly the thought of busing Plebes that distance seems ridiculous to me. I get the whole efficiency thing and Nemo may be right , but from an image perspective - it is the wrong answer !
I had an exchange with a young West Point candidate on this issue a few months ago, and chastised him for bad mouthing USNA when he wasn't even a Cadet. DOG is right, both West Point and USNA grads are laughing their a$$ off at the carts, and we've earned the right to do so. Disgruntled old grads have been complaining and picking on younger, softer classes since the service academies were established.
PS. Are plebes allowed to walk on curved sidewalks, use upperclass ladders, and walk between tables in King Hall for the sake of being more efficient now ?
