USNA Sport Recruiting Question

Hello everyone I have a question regarding recruiting for sports at USNA.

I participate in Rowing currently and though I am 6’2 220 lbs, I do not have the 2k Score to be recruited. I have been communicating with Navy Rowing and would be considered a walk on.

I have over a decade of experience in Sailing and found that USNA offers an Offshore Sailing Team.

I was wondering, does attempting to be recruited in Offshore Sailing (as I communicate with Rowing) hurt my chances to get into USNA? I would be communicating with two different sports at USNA at the same time.

Thanks and I hope everyone is safe and well.

You are a “walk on“ for rowing and that isn’t a guarantee. One one coach loses, another gains 😉

I would only consider it an issue if you were RECRUITED by two coaches. The rowing coach has told you that you can walk on. Which is not a recruited spot.

I don’t see any issue with it at all.

I am a former Sailing coach at USNA - talking to the Offshore folks would not affect the Crew folks and as has already been said, Offshore does not recruit. Intercollegiate does some recruiting but it is generally High Level National level competitors.
