USNA status notification help

Hello, I am currently CPR, have yet to hear from the naval academy. I understand that some are informed by their MoC nomination source of their status, I received my nomination through my Mcjrotc instructor. Will he be notified of my status and tell me? Or will only I be notified; also, how will i be notified ( portal change or mail) for any status change (NAPS, accepted ect.) If they dont inform my nominating source?
 
If you are selected for an appointment your status is updated to the MOCs first. They are given a window of 3-5 days to call you. Some do and some don't. Seems to be mixed on this one. This is regardless of where your Nom comes from. After that window closes your portal will be updated. There is an email that will tell you that you had a change in status and then to check your portal. This portal update could be an appointment, a 'were sorry' letter or appointment to NAPS.

So my MCJROTC SMI would be notified of my status? He wss my nomination source.
 
No, your MOC will. Regardless of your nomination source, the MOC will be notified if you are appointed. Some hear from their MOC and others don't. You could also get a portal update first if your MOC doesn't call or it's something other than an appointment.
 
For a different SA, my #3 who did not earn an MOC nomination in our hyper competitive district and state received a call about his appointment and an email from the MOC staffer about his appointment.
 
@USMChopeful ... also, #3 was quick to point out the irony of being "not good enough to nominate, but good enough to call." Also, our congressman invited him to an appointed student event in May. So, a bit more inclusive than you might otherwise have experienced when you were applying for your nomination.
 
Thank you... i understand now. Hopefully I'll be hearing something back from the Naval Academy soon.

#3 thought it was funny/ironic but was thankful, too. "Good enough now." Like me, he is always happy just to be invited.
