USNA Summer Seminar 2013

I have just also recently applied and was wondering what my chances are for the NASS. I go to CAP regularly and am a SSGT , and am in the varsity swim team, Science Robotics Club, Scouting, Color Guard, Honor Guard, and have a 3.6 underweight GPA. What are my chances?

I just applied as well, and would like to know if they have rolling admission or select dates they go by.

You look pretty good to me, everything looks good but you didn't say any test scores so I can't say for sure.

Rolling admissions. From what we can gather your geographic area plays a large role in this one...as well as, of course, test scores, leadership, servie and athletics. BUT, our kids' BGO said SS is a time to recruit those who come from underprepresented areas and to NOT get discouraged if you do not get in.

Also, with West Point's SLE being possible cut to one week he suspects the Naval SS will get many more applicants, as might AIM. USAFA SS application date has passed and acceptances have already been sent out. Competitive summer for applicants it seems!

Starting the process again

Youngest son got accepted today for NASS session 3 and one of my older sons will graduate this May from the Naval Academy.

Time to start the process all over again....it's been awhile since I've been here but I'm sure I'll have new questions.

No letter this time just an email...how times are changing.

Post from the Admissions Facebook Page

Just sharing a post from the Academy Admissions page...

This is just a reminder that Summer Seminar selection is a rolling process. Candidates could be notified of their selection or regrets any time between the day they apply and April 15. If you applied on the first day and still haven't heard anything, it doesn't mean we didn't receive your application. It simply means a decision has not yet been made. We appreciate your patience and understand of this complicated selection process. Best of luck to all of you!

The letter comes a few days after the email notification. TWE with "Department of the Navy" return address. A nice scrapbook keeper for the Moms.

Have any of you accepted already pay online & have emailed the forms? I have done so a few days ago, yet I have not received an email or anything that my spot is confirmed. Should I be worried? I pretty sure I have done everything right.

Might be worth a quick email follow-up. It took over a week for the pay site to allow us to pay but the confirmation from Admissions was pretty quick after the payment finally processed.

DS (in boarding school) forwarded me an email last night from NASS instructing him to choose sizes for "gear". the link brings up a page to choose tshirt, shorts and sweatshirt, hoodie sizes, but it says they are unisex. wonder what size I should encourage my very tall, skinny boy to get in shorts and sweatpants?!! ack!

if you are in between go larger.
half the size after one wash

Son is in!

We just received the email yesterday that our son was accepted to Session 3. We had to adjust some Summer plans, but everything is set. Air tickets purchased, etc. I am hopeful for a great experience. DS is a varsity Lacrosse player and hopes to meet the Navy Lacrosse coach while there. Does anyone know if this is possible?

Strangely, I was rejected over a week ago and I have been accepted today. I've tried to submit the payment but it says the info does not match their records. The Web Store is also not functioning for me either, do I need to submit the forms before they open up? (FYI, I have less than 3 days to get this done apparently for the Web Form)

My child said that in her acceptance email it stated to wait 72 hours before trying to submit payment. So, she waited 4-5 days and then went in and submitted everything. You may just need to wait a bit.

Yep, noticed that yesterday. The web store started working, and I just have to wait until tomorrow to submit the payment.

Yes! I attended Summer Seminar last year and they give you an opportunity to walk around the arena and meet all of the coaches and fill out recruitment forms. It really is a fun expierence(capture the flag at 3 am in the middle of the yard on the last night was the highlight for me)lol.

My son got his letter, he will be attending the 1st class
