USNA Summer Seminar Results

I got an email yesterday stating “you may have received an email indicating we did not receive your application -disregard. It was sent in error. Any one else have this “error”

DS received an email stating they didn’t receive his forms. Which came after another one confirming that they did. Following up, they said they are having some kind of an issue. Seems like maybe its similar?

I think it was one of the biggest factors for my 2021 mid. He didn't have the classic, perfect candidate package, at all. Don't get me wrong...he is smart but never was a stellar test taker. At NASS, his detailer saw his GRIT. Named him candidate of the squad (or whatever it's called) and along with MOC principal nomination, is what I believe got him in. Is it a coincidence he ended up in his detailer's company?

> Great story, but unlikely. NASS detailers do prepare an evaluation , as much for training the detailer on how to do evaluations as to provide input into the Admissions process, but I wouldn't expect that the detailer input has that much weight. Like the BGO interview, its only part of the input. It was the MOC principal nomination that counted ....

With respect to getting put in detailer's company, I would call that pure coincidence. Highly unlikely that any Midshipman has input into company assignments, other than keeping siblings apart. (Yes, coincidences occur -- odds of getting into a NASS detailers company are 1:30; much better than the odds of my getting assigned to my Plebe Year room when I attended initial BGO training --yes, that happened!)

Call it luck, call it a "coincidence", call it a blessing. I truly don't care. His experience at NASS helped him in his MOC interview, as it showed a TRUE interest in the Academy. I'll take every coincidence that happened in his case. My youngster is THRIVING at USNA and I have never been more sure he is "in the right place", than I am now. Love these forums and the wisdom therein.

I applied the minute the application opened. I haven't heard back yet but I know of another guy in my city who got accepted, so I'm starting to lose faith that I will be accepted.

Howdy. My DD is also a Youngster. She was session 1 in 2016 and her detailer recommended her for an award. IMHO, it did make a difference. NASS sealed the deal for her. Hope to run into you at 2/C weekend.

I was denied from NASS a couple of months ago (April 2018). It was heartbreaking, but I kept going. I am now appointed to Class of 2023.

Summer Seminars don't have any bearing to your admissions to the academy. Never give up. Never lose hope.

Good luck to class of 2024!!
