My daughter will be a rising 9th grader in the fall. She submitted her application last night for the STEM camp. Does anyone have information as to how many slots they have to fill per grade level? How many applicants typically apply? Typical time to get a response? Etc?

FWIW, DD applied the morning applications opened also as a rising 9th grader and hasn't heard a peep. It seems that some older kids have had acceptances, but I don't know about the rising freshmen.

Thabks for the reply. When did they start taking apps?

They’ve had a series of notifications already and will continue on a rolling basis. My DD applied in January as well and hasn’t heard anything but I’ve seen other posts where candidates from all eligible grades have been accepted. I’ve seen that they accept about 600 kids out of thousands of applicants. Good luck!

Thanks. I’ve prepped daughter to assume she won’t get in. Interested tho nonetheless.

All good. FYI. We are from SC. I introduced her to the service academy concept about a year ago because she just seems like that kind of kid....super goal oriented, ambitious, wants to feel challenged, wants to take a road less travelled, interest in STEM careers, respects and admires the military, academically solid, etc.

At first she didn’t know what to make of it but she did some research and since has been incredibly focused on SAs with a strong slant to USNA.

From what I’ve read, everything about the USNA (STEM, SS, appointment) seems like a long shot, but i see no harm that can come from setting any SA as a goal, whether she makes it eventually or not.

Be patient and persistent. My DD applied to STEM three times before being accepted. Loved the experience. Followed with NASS. Then applied successfully for appointment.

Great if you get in. If you don’t, has zero bearing on your chances of offer of appointment.

My daughter has not received a response yet. She just submitted this past Sunday though, so we have not really been expecting anything yet.

New to the forum! My DS applied in January and we haven't heard anything yet. He will be a sophomore next year. He applied and then he told me about it ....so I never saw the application. This isn't helping during the waiting game as I wonder if he did everything he could in his application to have a chance. Meanwhile, he did get an email saying his application wasn't complete and then he got another email saying to ignore that email. Anyone else get that email? Thanks!

Yes, we received that email also. My daughter also applied in January as is still waiting. Good luck!

Thank you for responding and letting me know we weren't the only ones with that response. Good luck to your daughter!
