Just curious...I have been reading the USMA post, seems some candidates starting getting their appointment denial letters:frown:---Has anyone gotten one from The USNA as of yet? Have they even mailed them out yet??

Seems USMA is the 1st of SA's to notify on just about everything, so that probably includes the TWE too--I haven't heard of anyone getting one from USNA yet this year, not on these boards anyway, doesn't mean they haven't gone out. Sounds like the Navy is still reviewing apps as they are behind the power curve this year.

Yes they are out for USNA as well...

Unfortunately yes, a lot of them have been released already...but I am pretty sure you would be hard pressed to hear about them. It is just not something you would want to post for obvious reasons. IMHO those that got the TWE this year should still try again next year and try to improve on their perceived weak spots in the interim. Persistence sends a BIG signal to the Admissions Board as far as strength in Character is concerned and could be another +++ for your application packet for next year! Do not give up...Adapt...Overcome...Improvise and prove to them that you are worth it! :thumb:

I am wondering what the first indicator is that a TWE is coming your way. Is it the TWE itself (in other words, no warning), or something on DODMERB perhaps?

heart skipped a zillion beats just now

mail came and a large (14 x 11) envelope was stuffed in the mailbox!! with an official looking military emblem on it!! from a commander, USN, RET! heart skipped a zillion beats (awaiting word on DS for USNA)! But, pkg. addressed to DD, not DS. DD is an 09 usna grad., now a 2nd LT. USMC stationed at Camp Lejeune. The pkg. contained her "yearbook" from TBS (she was there immediately following USNA grad. until end of NOV). altho not the Big
Envelope I thought it could be, it was impressive and further inspiration to DS to strive towards that ultimate goal - serving his country as an officer in the Navy or Marines! still waiting...still hopeful!

karen not fair......my heart would have also skipped a few thousand beats. I feel your pain, and this is your second time around. Is it any easier?

DoDMERB will state: Offer Withdrawn:thumbdown: Saying that, I do know one Mid who got in on his third try after spending three years in College. There is always light at the end of the tunnel and it is not always the train coming in the other direction.

how does that saying go?? a little knowledge is dangerous...or something like that!! we thought we knew how the process worked having been through it...albeit five years ago! we know less than nothing it seems this time around!! yikes! the timeline is so NOT familiar to this family-in-waiting...DD knew Nov. of her senior year of appt. holidays were grand and carefree, no worries about "when" "what" "what if" regarding her next nine years!! this time...months of waiting, hearing nothing, and all this after DS had submitted all application pieces, undergone DoDMERB exams by mid-July, same as DD had 5 yrs. prior. The not knowing is really tough. Short answer to your ? - infinitely harder this time!

I sympathize, Ive been waiting forever also. Is there any rhyme or reason to when they review files? Because I know people who turned their stuff in after me who have already had their board.

It appears that my candidates who showed up as "Turned Down" by the Admissions Board weeks ago have received their thin envelopes.
Still many candidates who are 3Qd aren't even showing as going before the board yet.
Very, very competitive year.

^^^ @Karen
So, true this cycle is NOTHING like ANY of them in the past 5 years.

Where does it show "as going before the board"?

On our Blue and Gold Information System (BGIS)

Nothing is making much sense this year. Have a couple of candidates whose packages were complete and had a Presidential nom in late August who, according to BGIS, have not gone before the board but are 3Qd
Had one guy complete his entire NROTC package in late August, received in Pcola in early September; he hasn't heard a word.
Another guy completed his NROTC package and was mailed off around the 15th of December and he was notified of a 4 yr to MIT (didn't get in to MIT, but was able to switch to another school where he was accepted during EA).

Seems as if cycle 2014 is a waiting game  and frustrating for all.

What we see in the system is "NE" - not evaluated - which is USNA speak for "not decided what to do with this candidate yet".

I'm given to understand that it doesn't mean the candidate's file hasn't been before the board, just that no final disposition has been determined.
