Sharing this in case it could help any of you. Just discovered that Utah changed their law regarding granting in-state tuition for veteran dependents. It used to apply for those dependents whose vet parent(s) separated no more than 5 years back. BUT, in May of 2020, they took out the 5-yr separation stipulation. Yeehaw!

(d)a military veteran's immediate family member, regardless of whether the military veteran served in Utah, if the military veteran's immediate family member provides:
(i)evidence of the military veteran's honorable or general discharge;
(ii)a signed written declaration that the military veteran's immediate family member has relinquished residency in any other state and does not maintain a residence elsewhere; and
(iii)objective evidence that the military veteran's immediate family member has demonstrated an intent to establish residency in Utah, which may include any one of the items described in Subsection (8)(c)(iii); or

Michigan State does the same thing, it's a great deal, all you need is a DD214.

I think Arizona State might do the same thing, and possibly Iowa

Would be nice to find a single list of all the schools that provide benefits like this for vets. If it exists, I haven't found it.

There are lots of benefits for dependents of active duty and/or retired, and of course disabled vets etc, but not many for plain ole' out of state vets.

Michigan State! Whoa! Looks like ASU has a 3 year stipulation, similar to Utah’s former 5 year. Regardless, good deals to be had if you know about them.
