I read somewhere on the web (can't find it now) that if a prospective student obtains a 4 year NROTC scholarship, that at Vanderbilt University the admissions board will give special consideration to that student for admissions. Can anyone confirm this? Thanks

Maybe their admission office would tell you if they give points for that.

I received a 4 year NROTC scholarship at Vandy. I met the CO at a congressional nomination interview and told him I had applied and Vandy was my top ROTC pick (before he told me he was the CO). I received my acceptance to the program and Vandy a week later (I guess I answered correctly haha).

I did. USCGA was my first choice. I grew up in Nashville and my dad worked at Vanderbilt, so it was a comfortable school to apply to. In general my order was USCGA, USNA, USMMA, and then NROTC at Vanderbilt. That's not a reflection on Vandy though, it's a GREAT school. I'm not sure I appreciated how great it was at the time because I generally took it for granted.

As suggested all you can do is contact Admissions to get their input. Applications to Vanderbilt have really increased, and its position has risen in the rankings and is considered one of the elite schools in the country. Beautiful campus, livable city, great music scene, good SEC sports with championship baseball team.

LITS I agree with your opinion on Vanderbilt, spent 4 years there and it was outstanding (I think they lowered standards for me then). Nashvegas-city without a subway (though Cumberland Riverboats), Jonesy’s, Loveless Café and Motel, Belle Meade Country Club parties. Have not been back in years and not sure I would recognize it. I raised Vandy with DS but wife said it was way outside the 4 hour radius she set for colleges (claimed she did not really mean it!)
Good luck MichUSNAparent.

Please post the answer you get from their admissions office if you end up asking them!
