What's the word on this nomination? What factors go into it? How many people get it - assuming 10? Etc.?
 
10 can get nominated for every slot he has open, and he can have 5 people at each academy just like your MOC so between 10-20 based on the year and number of spots open.
 
This is what was presented by the Dean of Admissions at BGO training:
  1. Don't skip the VP nomination application
  2. VP's office sends list of applicants to USNA, USNA decides who gets the nom
  3. All 10 who get the VP nom will get an appointment (some years it's 20)
  4. VP Noms are usually given to LOA recipients with no nom, and other highly qualified/highly desired candidates with no nom
