When I checked my USMA portal today I saw VPRE1 under my nominations section. Is this a Vice President nomination? I guess I am slightly doubtful considering my Vice President nomination process did not include any type of interview.

I also previously accepted a Civil Prep appointment, how does this impact my chances of being admitted this fall?

I think people have not responded here because it’s rather interesting to see you have been offered and accepted a civilian prep offer, which means a regular direct appointment was not offered. I don’t know how USMA posts VP noms.

VP noms are handled by the DoD SAs in a strictly administrative way; no VP staff are directly involved in the selection. They simply show up in your portal, if that is what it is.

For the most accurate answer, contact one of your Admissions POCs.

It would be unusual to receive a VP Nom if you were not still in consideration for an appointment since VP nominees are selected by USMA admissions.

So, maybe an appointment is coming. If you were sponsored for prep you fall into the category of 'also ran' 'good enough for next year'.
Sometimes a kid will receive a funded prep appointment (and even a TWE) and then get an appointment late in the cycle--which is during the last couple weeks of April.

We will see.

We cannot know what is going on with the people in your geographic region--but someone could have turned down USMA for another opportunity, been injured, died, etc...opening a spot...or there might be something in you (as a candidate or as a person) that has made USMA Admissions reconsider you as they are polishing off the Class of 2027.

You just have to wait...but it is exciting to think about it.

It's my understanding that there's no interviewing involved for this rare nomination. Like there almost always is for MOC's nominations.
(I could be mistaken).
Sounds like you're likely already nominated elsewhere, hence the prep scholarship, but i know that's not necessarily required for sponsorship. Perhaps, as others have stated, they're looking for somewhere to charge your appointment to?
Or if by chance your not nominated already, finding you a nomination so that you can go into the national pool for possible appointment.
All that aside, it's GREAT NEWS that you've got a prep year sponsored! DS self-preped twice and finally earned appointments USMA and USAFA. I hope it works out for you, but otherwise CONGRATULATIONS on your AOG scholarship! That's huge!
We're a bit biased and it's simply my opinion, but I suggest using it at MMI if you have a choice. Wherever you go, you'll be better prepared, and you'll be well acquainted with other kids doing the same. At a minimum you'll have some solid friendships going into the Academy.

Correct. The application on the VP website is a formality which must be completed in order to be considered for the VP nomination.

The entire decision on selection for the VP nominations is delegated to USMA admissions.
