Vice Presidential Nomination

Although I've read that the Vice Presidential nomination is usually reserved for those who do not have another nomination source and is rightfully the most competitive is it at all beneficial to apply for it anyway just to show further demonstrated interest? My FFO and College Counselor as well as USMA admissions officials have said to apply to all possible nomination sources but are there any benefits in submitting an application to the Vice-Presidents office? Its not a matter of not wanting to fill out the application (I have already filled it out and I'm debating whether to submit it or not) I just didn't know if there were any potential downsides of doing so. While my admissions profile is strong, realistically and without selling myself short, the prospect of me receiving the Vice-Presidential nomination seems slim to none just based on the sheer volume of applicants.
Thank you

If you have done the work already, there are no downsides to submitting it. On the off chance that you don't get the nomination from your congressman or either senator to your preferred SA, this can be a backup. The larger states where it is difficult to get a senator nomination means that the congressional nom is more important. Some of those districts are competitive and they may offer you a nomination to another SA if they are not as popular.

Remember, the only time you don't have a chance is when you don't even try.

Agree with Striker, submit your application to all routes for a nomination. You have three people in the know, FFO, CC and USMA admissions telling you to apply, so why would you even hesitate? You have nothing to lose and everything to gain. There really should be NO DEBATE.

Ok thanks, I did it yesterday, I just wanted to be sure there weren't any potential downsides.
Thank you all for all your help
