I just got Senator Kaine's Nomination to USNA.

Hey,
I'm a junior in high school and live in VA-11, and am a little confused about the process of getting a Nomination. I want to get a nomination for USNA, and am wondering when I should first contact my MOC and Senators. If possible, it would be great if you could PM me the advice and maybe a timeline or your process.

Thanks

Start with the websites for each of your MOCs (2 Senators and your Rep) and look for something called "service academy nominations." That typically provides directions for applying, requirements, deadlines, etc. Right now, they are still finishing up with the Class of 2021. If the application packet isn't yet available for the Class of 2022, keep checking back -- it's usually available around May. Also, if you have a brand new MOC after the elections (I realize this is not the case in VA-11 but could be elsewhere in the country), it may take a bit longer for that MOC to get the process up and running.

Note that deadlines for MOC packets are always earlier than USNA's Jan. 31 deadline -- and sometimes MUCH earlier. This is especially true in NoVA. But each MOC sets his/her own schedule and it can vary from year to year, so you'll need to check with each.

I agree with usna1985.

Also, in the April-May timeframe, Rep Connolly and Senator Warner have Service Academy Info Sessions. Connolly usually holds his in Prince William County, and Warner has his in Charlottesville. If you can make these events, I would recommend them highly.

The events will give you a great overview of the nomination process/timeline and will allow to meet with the MOC service academy coordinators.

Wanted to create this thread to see if anyone has heard from their VA MOCs regarding interview selections, rejections, appointments or anything?

Looking back at threads from previous years, mid-Oct is when Sen Kaine sent out some rejection notices and Sen Warner sent out interview notices.

Thanks and best wishes to everyone.
I just received my MOC nomination last week!

Just received my nomination to the Naval Academy from Representative Wittman (VA-01) today! I got my rejection letter from Senator Kaine a few days ago. Senator Warner's office never followed up with my application, I've neither been sent an interview request nor a rejection--most likely not going to receive a nomination from him.
Are you the Master Chief at your unit?

DS received his nomination from B Comstock #10 in VA.

Are there 10 nominations for each SA? Or 10 total?

Congrats, for which service academy? Did he receive it today?

Typically there are 10 nominations per slate per SA. Not 10 total for all the SAs.

Does anyone know how competitive Virginia district 4 is compared to other states?
I've tried to find it out, but haven't been successful.
