Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets - A few questions

Based on my research so far, Virginia Tech and the Corps of Cadets seems very appealing. A few questions: 1) Are all the branches equally represented, or does one branch seem to dominate in terms of numbers and the culture of the place; 2) Is there a lot of integration between the Army, Navy, and Air Force Cadets? 3) How well integrated are the Corps of Cadets into the rest of the campus? In other words, is this more similar to a typical ROTC experience where one experiences much of the civilian college experience, or does it feel more like a separate and distinct military college experience?

Would also love to hear generally about anyone's experience there.

Thank you.

I have been also looking at the Corps. I signed up for the information that happened last night, but unfortunately missed it. I have done one before and they answered a lot of questions I had. I have to sign up for another one. It looks like they have them every Wednesday at 7pm. Here is the link if you are interested. https://admit.vt.edu/portal/additional_info_sessions

My son is there now and is a Junior. He is part of the Regimental staff. Contracted Army - 4 Year Scholarship Winner . Army is the biggest contingent of the corps with the marine option being the smallest. But it has a good mix. Cadets are mixed in housing & rooms across all branches. His first year he was with a AF Cadet & Navy in his room . Cadets are on housed on a specific part of campus ( great dorms dedicated to them ). They are well integrated into the over all campus and very much respected. They are a very active part of the sports events. Classes Pre covid were like any other other student beu they are always in uniform. And they have several uniforms depending on time of year. First year cadet is pretty much academics and Cadet activities. No time for anything else as you have few privileges until after the second part of the Caldwell march in the spring ( 16 Miles ) Then you become a full cadet and begin to get more freedom. Your experience will be as a military cadet with civilian privileges over time. But to be honest you wont have time as if your not crammed with class work, Your doing early PT, or cadet stuff or or ROTC Stuff or searching for the 30 minutes to catch up on sleep. Especially in the first semester. Great place, Great opportunities amazing traditions. Below link is the Pass In Review from a few weeks ago

Have heard great things about VTCC; storied history and several Medal of Honor recipients, war heroes, etc. Virginia Tech, as a whole, is well known for its comradery and network of graduates. Also, several VTCC grads are currently high ranking general officers in the US military from the Marine Corps to the Air Force.

My son just finished his sophomore year and I agree with everything NJ_Dad has said. Army is def. the focus, but there are lots of Navy and Air Force cadets as well. My son has been very happy with the corps and, despite the disruptions from COVID, satisfied with his overall VT experience too.

My son graduated from the VTCC in May and will graduate from VT and commission in the Navy in two weeks. While I wouldn't say he loved every moment of being in the Corps, I think he would say that overall it was a great experience. His fiancé also graduated from the Corps of Cadets (VPI Battalion) and VT last May. They are getting married in January.

Looks like he loved more of it than he thinks. 😉
