Hi,

I'm a sophomore going into my Junior year, and am really interested in going to the Academy, hoping to eventually become a pilot. However, my vision is really bad (-4.00) and getting worse. Can you give me some feedback on this, and if I should take steps to try and get it better (naturally). Thanks.

CAP_C/2dLt,

Barring something drastic happening to your vision in the next year (since you can take your DoDMERB physical at the beginning of your senior year) you will not have any issues as far as getting into the academy. As for your prospects for an aviation career when you graduate from an academy in 6 years, I won't even hazard a guess as there are to many variables (your vision changing, the vision standards for pilots changing) to consider.

Thanks so much for the reply/information. I'll try to take the exam as soon as possible.

You don't take the DoDMERB physical on your own perogative...you take it when they tell you to (i.e. when you apply).
