Visiting April 3rd or 4th: Self-Guided Tour or . . .

Our DS just found out this week that he received an appointment to the Academy (!!!!) and we've cancelled plans for a backpacking trip to instead visit the Academy since he's never been and we both have the open time already. He's quite certain that he wants to attend, but we'd like for him to get a sense of things before June 27 since we may well send him out then on his own. It looks like all the slots for Cadet-guided tours are booked up for next week though. I know that we can do a self-guided tour, which sounds mostly like the visitor's center, but would anyone have suggestions on how to get the best picture of the Academy beyond that? We'd probably be there on April 3rd or 4th but that's pretty flexible at this point.

Thanks everyone for both your insights on this and especially for the wealth of information over the past year!!

Hopefully some current cadets on here will speak up. Your DS can do an unofficial tour with a cadet as long as the cadet clears it with their teachers and squadron. I did this for several forum members when I was a cadet. That way your son can get a much better feel for how things really work and have some interaction with cadets.

If no one on here volunteers I will be VERY surprised (to all current cadets, hint hint, this is a worthwhile experience and if you have never done it, you should)
