I am going to be visiting the Academy soon and I was curious as to what I should wear? The website says business casual - so is that slacks and a nice shirt and flats? But it also says to prepare to walk a lot.

I'm not sure.
Thanks to anyone that helps!

[And also please take into consideration that I am a girl.]

Dress comfortably, wearing what you would for a trip to a nice restaurant as a guest of your mom's boss. Nothing too formal, yet nothing grungy either. USAFA will probably not make fashion report on you, but don't attract attention for the wrong reasons. Let common sense be your guide. It is really not that big of deal.

Khaki or dark slacks with a nice top, comfortable flats or low dress boots, simple jewelry and you'll look great.
Hope you have a wonderful visit.

Was just there today and there was a wide variety. Dad's right. I would stress comfortable shoes because you're going to do a lot of walking. A lot.

Watch out for puddles.. Kinda gets old having wet shoes all day. Oh and when they say to get there at 730 to assure you have time, get there at 730. It snowed today and they closed roads and wouldn't let me through, ended up being an hour late. If I got there at 730 rather than 736, I would have been fine.

So do you think nice jeans and boots with a nice jacket would be okay?

Yep. Be prepared for any kind of weather and wear a relatively nice shirt and you'll be fine

All good advice

All good advice above. My two cents: When in doubt, dress to impress....so nice pants, dress, nice jeans, etc fine. Shoes that will be comfortable after 5 miles...(not running shoes, but comfortable.) (And you may not cover 5 miles, but at 7,000 feet, it will feel like it.) Sunscreen and chapstick. Water bottle and drink from it all day long (and be mindful that before you leave one building to go to another, you can be walking 15+ minutes....so if you have to "go," go now...ha.) Take pictures and ask lots of questions! Have a great time!

Should be fine. The only guy that stood out yesterday was the parent in the NAVY pullover. I think he was former Annapolis and wanted to have some fun with everyone.

Next time I'll rent an SUV instead of a economy class car even if it's in the the middle of July.

Yeah try going on sheets of ice in a dodge charger. Trust me

All great advice so far. The only thing I would add is if you wear boots make sure they are comfortable and well broken in. My DD (having no idea the extent of how much walking would be involved) wore her new boots and by the end of the day had several blisters.

One last thought. When I visited USAFA (as part of the 2010 Educator's Program), the weather went from mid 70s and sunny to low 20s and freezing rain. Be prepared for changing temps and sudden rain.

Yeah, and it rains in patches sometimes. Rain here, no rain 100 feet away, raining 200 feet away. Oh, and the sun is out. I guess it's just because the moisture is coming over the mountains and gets funneled into channels. The mountains are still gorgeous.
