As of right now, I am aware that you can only visit the USMA if you are a senior with an open application. This, for me, defeats the purpose, because I would love to see the school before I start applying.

I, a high school Sophomore, was hoping to take a trip this summer (Or during the school year if the trip would be more beneficial) to see some colleges, and until I found this out, WP was at the top of my list.

I found on their site a description of the old tour (Pre-Covid) and it says that ''Daily visits consist of a 1-hour briefing co-presented by an Admissions Officer and a current Cadet, a walking tour of the campus (weather permitting), an opportunity for a one-on-one meeting with an Admissions Officer, as well as a chance for the prospective candidate to attend classes and eat lunch with a Cadet. ''

This sounds exactly like what I would want, yet as of right now this is not being offered.

Any idea of other ways to get to see the campus/experience the activities above?

Please, things will start to open up. You have plenty of time.
Once the COVID19 restrictions lift, you can visit USMA and take the tours that are offered daily. (You can only overnight if you are invited as an applicant.)
Further, if you are a sophomore now, you will have time to apply to SLE as a junior for the summer between your junior and senior year.

Also, closer to your tour scheduled for this coming summer, check the website again or call the general office number for admissions and ask if they have re-opened the daily tours. The situation is rather fluid dependent on rates of disease in and around USMA and NY as well as rates of disease in your home state. So, check back but in general, you have a lot of time for a campus visit and tour.

I would be surprised if most colleges don't have the same restrictions at this point. If you are going to consider not applying to West Point because you can't pay a visit as a sophomore, then perhaps you should reevaluate your desire to really go there in the first place. Seniors should absolutely be the priority since even their junior year was cut short for visit opportunities. At this point, there are not ways around the visit restriction. When they open, you will be able to go. Perhaps during a football game weekend in the fall.

While you are visiting the other schools you are interested in, make sure you also look at the ROTC programs they offer. My DS was much too fixated on WP and was pretty shocked at getting turned down. He has a 4 year Army ROTC scholarship as his Plan B lined up but he did not even look into the all the different places where he could have used it since he was counting on WP to happen and only applied to the ROTC schools that others from his JROTC battalion in previous years went to. He is going to a solid engineering university but since it's only 20 miles away it is kind of lacking the wow factor for him. He could have gone almost anywhere with it had he done more homework about ROTC. As his mom, in hindsight, I wish I would have looked into the ROTC process the same way I looked into the SA's.

I would check into the "senior with an open application visiting". As of today, no visitors are allowed on post, ESPECIALLY near the Cadet Areas. IF you have official business, show ID, have proof of vaccination, and a specific place to go, you may enter to go to your place of business. SLE is virtual I believe as of right now, and R-Day is "no visitors". Don't make any hasty decisions, give things a chance to return to whatever "normal" is going to be before rushing and pushing to get the "campus experience".

So true. I wished I had known about all of the ROTC scholarships and programs, but I had only applied to the Marine Option one due to lack of planning and running low on time. Needless to say, I was rejected by both USNA, West Point, and NROTC M/O, and the best school I got into didn't even offer an ROTC program.

Of course I will apply to SLE, yet it caught me of guard that it was virtual this year and didnt want that to be my plan and then have it become virtual next year.

Thanks for the feedback.

But you got in this cycle and that is what counts! Bravo! Good luck to you!
