In my parent forum I hear that NY has dropped travel restrictions and students are scheduling visits to Kings Point. Has anyone heard similar info?

Haven’t heard it but that would be great. In deciding whether to ask the coach or admissions about it, I think we are going to start with the coach.

We went out on the 1st of April. We were allowed on campus but only to the admissions building and a short walk down the street the admissions building is on. We did see a couple people meet up with coaches and they seemed to get a different tour. So I’d talk to a coach if you are a recruited athlete.

I did find where NY has lifted the quarantine

Thanks for verification. We aren't interested in a visit as DS is 100% committed but I hope it means on indoc day we will get to have the full course of events and not a drop and drive.

That would be great. I’m not so sure though as their decision wouldn’t be driven by NY quarantine requirements as much as a desire they may have to bubble the regiment. But I hope you’re right!

I would be surprised if full visits were allowed before graduation. If there are any COVID positive cases on campus, the Coast Guard will not come on campus to administer license exams. No license exams, no graduation. That is the priority right now.

I reached out to a coach and he clarified "visits". They are exterior only. They can't enter buildings.

Thanks, that makes sense given how careful they are being and what many other schools around here are doing for their visits. My son hasn’t met his coach in person and the team is in season now so he will probably reach out to see if he can come to meet her and/or watch a meet outside. We’re only pursuing that because we do live so close.

The buildings aren't even worth seeing on the inside. You definitely won't have the full course of events for indoc though. Jack isn't a great superintendent or even qualified for the job in my opinion, but he's smart enough to get that risk/reward ratio correct. Hopefully after an entire career at SeaRiver Maritime (ExxonMobil), he understands risk management.
