LEXINGTON, Va., Oct.29, 2009 – VMI alumnus Sgt. Dale R. Griffin, 29, was killed by a roadside bomb while on duty in southern Afghanistan Tuesday, Oct. 27. His remains were among those of 18 Americans who died in Afghanistan that were received at Dover Air Force Base, N.J., Wednesday night.

Sgt Griffin was a member of the class of 2003 and left VMI to enlist in the Army immediately after 9/11/2001. He was from Terre Haute Indiana and was a wrestler at VMI winning the All Academy wrestling tournament at the USAFA in his Rat year. He is the 12th VMI alumnus killed in Iraq/ Afghanistan

My prayers are with Sgt Griffin's family.
