Hello everyone. Quick question. I submitted the online portion of the VMI application but I didn't see an essay portion. Is there not an essay/or short answer?
Thanks!

I know I'm going to seem stupid by asking this, but can you help me out on the first application form which includes basic information?

Whenever i hit submit, it does nothing but select the birthday input box. I know it says to enter your birthday in the mmddyyyy format, and I've tried both 04061993 and 04/06/1993 but it just does not submit the form. IDK what's going on

nevermind, I was doing it in Google Chrome earlier, which doesn't seem to work. It submitted all information just fine while using internet explorer. Weird...

haha that is weird... Hmm. Well I'm glad that you figured it out :) Oh! and to answer my question from earlier: I emailed the Admissions office and essays are optional. One just has to send it in apparently

so you have to send it in to the admissions office? Meh, I might as well do everything manually.

Essays, letters of recommendation, etc should all be sent in one manilla envelope to the admissions office. I chose to fill out a hard copy of the admissions packet so that I would have copies for myself to put on file until I was declined/deferred/accepted. One other good reason to put everything together is that you don't have to keep hassling the Admission's Office to see whether or not you have everything in and on time. With all of the applications that come in every year; I'd say their job is stressful enough without having to piece together one person's admission packet.

When you applied, LGLH, did you include your essay? I'm not sure to what prompt I should be writing... any suggestion?

If I recall correctly, I don't remember writing one for the VMI application packet. The only reason I believe you should write a essay is if you are lacking in an area and need to explain yourself or if you feel that compelled to explain why you want to attend. While at my overnight I was able to talk to a former member of the admissions office. Cpt. Casper, who was a blessing in disguise and actually put in a good word for me with my admissions officer. I mean it's really all up to you and how bad you want it. I'll put it this way. It couldn't hurt you to add it in there.
