Both of my parents support my decision for planning to go to the military. Getting into a academy would be nice, but VMI just appeals to me. I haven't been accepted yet and I don't know if I will. (Only the future knows) but my dad seems to be worried for me at VMI. He thinks that it wouldn't be the best choice for me because of how low the percentage of females are. I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice for helping my dad support my decision to apply to VMI. Thanks.

Not sure if you're aware, but I'm pretty confident your dad posted here a couple days ago... Maybe check that thread for some info.

My daughter is a first class (senior) at VMI and she has absolutely loved her time there and has zero issues being a female. She’d tell you that she has a whole lot of Brother Rats. The bond they make is real.

Try to schedule an overnight “pre strain” visit if possible, and have your dad go with you. During the visit your parents will also be given a tour and they will have lots of time to ask questions, listen to different panels for Q & A’s, meet and talk to numerous cadets, current cadet parents and professors. When we visited with our daughter, we were blown away!

I was blown away as well on the visits and football camp, chow hall food, etc. My son though saw it differently.

He said he didn’t want all that “military stuff.”
