I am wondering if there is anyway I can speak with a VMI cadet about life on campus. Here is my situation, I have been offered an appointment and a 3 year AROTC scholarship to VMI. It is my number two college behind West Point and it is beginning to look like I won't get into West Point. So, I am wondering if it is possible to talk to a cadet at VMI about day to day life. Also, visiting is out of the question because I live in Southern California it is too expensive for my family to pay for a plane ticket and hotel room.

Ah, so a prospective VMI cadet! I am currently a secondclassman, so I'll be more than happy to answer your questions.

VMI Contacts

Art - son is a First and his roommate is from SO CAL. They are home at our house in PA for weekend. Send me a PM with your contact info and they will contact you.

VMI Contacts

Art - My DS situation is identical to yours except that VMI became his #1 after a visit last March. He was relieved when rejection arrived last week from USMA and he was not faced with that choice (VMI being a better fit for him academically). If you need a perspective from someone who is thrilled to soon be a Rat on a 3 year AROTC PM me and I will have him respond.

PM me if you have any questions. I am a 4/C Cadet, meaning I just broke out in March.

Emails/cell phones

Rats can use email after hell week anytime. Rats are never allowed to use any instant messaging like aim or fb msngr. Rats can use cell phones in their dyke's room, almost all dyke let their rats use cell phones in the dyke room

Can I please talk to a VMI Cadet

So I am applying to the Air Force Academy and getting my nominations completed, and I realize that I may not get my appointment so VMI is my second choice. However the Citadel seems like another excellent military college...but I live in Virginia so I'm leaning towards VMI. Is there any way I could possibly talk to a cadet to understand Cadet life? Much appreciated, thanks!:)

for people able to make the trip, the overnight visit schedule is now posted under the admissions tab on the VMI website. this is the way to know if it's something for you. If you can, try and attend one during the rat line. Many questions not even thought of were answered for us and DS on his visit.
