Hi everyone. I was just wondering two things: 1. if anyone has any tips on the VMI essay

2. Does anyone know a way that I can type the VMI essay? There is a sheet that I am supposed to download and print that I am supposed to write my personal statement on. Ther is only one problem: my handwriting is garbage! I tried using Adobe reader, but apparently one can only edit pdf forms in Adobe Acrobat. I have no way of downloading this (I don't think). So if anyone has any suggestions please let me know!

Can't you download it, print it, and use a typewriter? Surely someone you know still has one. Check your attic!

I know I do not own one, but I will look into that! I hadn't even thought of that!

Do you have an email account for your high school and access to a computer at your high school? Most high schools have the Adobe Acrobat so you can fill out your form.

The other option you have is to type your essay on a plane piece of paper using the word editing program you do have on your computer, then staple your essay to the VMI form; and then on the VMI form write "See Attachment" ;-)

I will speak with my guidance counselor tomorrow. The only problem with the second option is that I am afraid that I will not be following instructions if I do not write in the lines of the paper.

Call the admissions office. They are very friendly and will give you good advice on what they would prefer.

Trial and error would prove well here.
Print out the sheet you have to have the essay written on, and load those into your printer. Next open your word processor and print it out. It will print onto the essay form. The trial and error comes from trying to format it just right so it is in between the lines.

How long was yours? I was just worried about going over a max amount that they wanted? Did you just staple it to the essay page?

Print the template. write your statement into a word document. use the template as paper in your printer. print.
