Great video about the governor’s speech at VMI’s graduation.

All the more special since most news about VMI lately is lies from a racist rag like the Washington Post and their left-wing radical writer, lIan Shapira, who constantly defame and attack anything in America which is good, honest, and patriotic.

VMI Commencement was awesome! I am so proud of my DS and all his Brother Rats. The Valedictorian and Class President nailed it with their remarks and Governor Youngkin's commencement address was inspirational. You can watch them all at the link from @Tac-p21 . #RahVaMil and a big shout out to ALL the Class of 2023 graduates who passed through this forum.

I see you have strong opinions about the reporting on VMI. As a VA resident, it is certainly troubling to see everything being fed through the media.
Absolutely. The lies are most troubling. The constant liberal attacks against such a unique and venerable institution are nothing new—dumb people attack things they don’t understand. Manufactured stories and lies being fed to a sheep-like public are something a white-guilty idiot like Ian Shapira and a rag like the Washington Post are capitalizing upon in today’s America… and it’s wrong.

While the stories from the Washington Post are certainly slanted, there is some truth to the stories or there wouldn't be stories.

While some alumni are so deep rooted in the past they can't see the future, many alumni including myself realize that while we love the Institute, there are some things that needed change. We recognize that even with these changes, the Institute's mission of producing honorable men and women ready to serve has not changed and is thriving.

I would not have sent my son if I didn't believe this.

Rah Virginia Mil!

My son applied to VMI and was accepted as well. He ultimately took the slightly different path (USMA). I hold VMI in high regard as a Virginia native. I recently read an article that stated that given the challenges that VMI is experiencing, they are accepting nearly 98 percent of applications because the number of applicants has dropped so significantly. That should be the most concerning issue to address. If applying to VMI all but ensures acceptance, the long term consequence is a lower quality application and a dilution of the candidate pool.

I also read the article you’re referring to, and it was full of false information. VMI did not accept 98% of applicants. VMI admitted a very small number of applicants and still maintained a highly selective approach. That’s why last year and this year’s classes are smaller than previous years. I agree with VMI’s approach on this. Why admit a high number of students when half of them are going to wash out or quit in the end? It takes a special kind of person and serious commitment to go to VMI!
Also found it interesting that the article (if it’s the same one) cited fewer applicants at ALL of the service academies and at VMI, but claimed the citadel (“VMI’s rival”🤣) had a high number of applicants… Of course the author failed to reveal the fact that “the higher than normal number of applicants” are to the citadel graduate and non-cadet programs!

"Of course the author failed to reveal the fact that “the higher than normal number of applicants” are to the citadel graduate and non-cadet programs" The long history of disinformation and anything to smear another school continues, the report had to do with undergraduate admissions to the Corps of Cadets not graduate programs.

So VMI suddenly decided to reduce its incoming freshman class by 25% due to 'selectivity'? The claims are all about 'the racist and liberal media who just tell lies'? Your posts get more bizarre and disjointed every month.
