A "HYPE-UP" video for the upcoming Fall 2018 Men's Division 2 VMI Rugby season:

The VMI Lads had a great Fall 2017 season ... Making it to the "Final 4" for the Men's D2 Rugby National Championship ... (in Men's D2 Rugby, Fall is the primary season for 15-man team Rugby)

The video clips in the link above are primarily from the last 2 games of the season . . . the start of the video shows the pre-game Haka . . . a New Zealand tradition saying a Maori war chant . . . game clips begining with the 2 Dec 2017 Men's D2 National Semifinal against Norwich (red jerseys), where VMI (black jerseys) emerged victorious after the match going into overtime, and then into "sudden death" . . . VMI won 41-36 . . . then the Men's D2 National Championship match was the next day on 3 Dec 2017 against 5 time National Champion Univ of WIsconsin-Whitewater (grey jerseys). Whitewater won with a winning try with about 2 minutes left, resulting in a score of 34-27. VMI gave them all they could handle.

The VMI Lads are getting ready for the Fall 2018 season ... Time for the VMI faithful to start getting ready ... Rah Virginia Mil!

Have to admit I don't know much about Rugby, but this video clip makes me think it would be fun to watch - lot's of action.

I didn’t either until DS started playing last year. I’m still learning ... but it is a great game to watch.

One of the things I read was how Soccer and Rugby were in fact the same game until the later 1800s. In the early years, teams would meet up and decide the rules for a particular football match. Some matches said no tackling and only use your feet. Other games allowed you to pick up the ball and run with it. Eventually a meeting was held that set the rules for Soccer and set the laws (rules) for Rugby.

American football is a descendant if Rugby ... some similarities and some big differences ...

Wish I had discovered it when I was younger.

Feel it’s pretty much the symbol and alma mater for VMI haha

Almost ... VMI Alma Mater is Doxology ... but Shenandoah is certainly affiliated with the Commonwealth of Virginia and the Shenandoah River and the Shenandoah Valley ...
