If you go to VMI this weekend you will see a boatload of phenomenally happy cadets and dazzlingly attired dates for the major social event in a Cadet's life.
This weekend is the 2d biggest event in a Cadet's time at VMI- Ring Figure weekend for the 2d Classmen. Congratulations to the class of 2012 who will be getting their rings Sunday. Wear them with pride- you have and will continue to earn it!! (and for heavens sake don't lose them- trust me on this, it is a very traumatic event if you do!!) Have a great weekend and stay out of trouble- the end game is in view!

I still can't believe my rat-ties are getting their rings already. Congratulations, Class of 2012! I'll be there for some of the festivities on Sunday. I'm so proud of how far y'all have come.

Hang in there, Class of 2013... few things are lonelier than being a Third Classman during Ring Figure. Your time will come.

Hang in there, Class of 2013... few things are lonelier than being a Third Classman during Ring Figure. Your time will come.

I just realized that with the Rats and Dykes taking their 20-mile trek to New Market tomorrow, and the Second Class cadets busy with Ring Figure, it's no wonder the Third Classmen feel lonely. The good news is, Thanksgiving furlough is just about here!

Congratulations Class of 2012!

The official pictures are up: http://www.vmi.edu/photojournals/1011/1011gallery.html.

My rats can be seen in the following pics: 17, 18, 19, 28, 30, and 44.

#32 is my rat's Mom, Dad (Class of '76), and fiancee.

#37 is one of my mentors (Class of '05), and one of my BRs who is now serving on the Office of Cadet Life staff.

And finally, #58 is a happy pic of five of my Band Co. rats.

Wear 'em with pride, 2012. Welcome to the Brotherhood of the Ring.

Always,

RahVaMil's dyke must have paid off the photographer- talk about market saturation
It was a great event and the rings look great (although they are unbelievably big )- I got to see the ring presentation ceremony (though not the formal Dance )and it brought back many fond memories. Haven't seen too many pictures of the formal or the Hop but those I have seen indicate that the Dates are as beautiful as ever in their formal gowns. Congratulations to all of the class- despite what they say you probably won't remember the weekend forever (I can only remember bits and pieces of my ring figure- it seems like a blur for some strange reason- don't know if that was due to too much beer in Roanoke druing the weekend :eek:or just my current age imparing my mental functions) , but you should always have that chunk of gold on your hand to remind you of a time when you were young, thin, had hair on your head and the world in front of you:rolleyes: Only one more major milestone to go and then VMI will be just a memory!
