DS got his VMI acceptance today!!! This is currently his first choice school. Question about scholarships, if anyone knows. Would the offer have come with the acceptance if he were getting one? Or would it be in the packet they said to expect shortly?

TIA

I can't fully answer this question, but I know that there were some scholarships that one needs to apply to on their own

I will assume that the scholarship is one from VMI and not from ROTC. Check with the Admissions or finance office for their schedule. Nationally awarded ROTC are not tied to the school acceptance date.

We are headed to VMI for the overnight Open House and wondered if anyone had any advice regarding what we as parents should be sure to see. Thanks in advance for any information!

I'd take time to see Goshen and the South Eastern Horse Center. You might want to check into fishing in Goshen or on the Maury as there are many trout-stocked areas. Also, I'd recommend hitting natural bridge and enjoying a nice meal there. If at all possible (it's about an hour away), I'd make the trip to see the New Market Museum and Battlefield. It's the only place in the USA where you'll experience a battlefield where the entire student body of a college fought as a unit in major combat. This wasn't just a skirmish, this was some of the fiercest combat of the Civil War. JMU is also nearby and that's a great college--worth seeing.
Enjoy!

I too recommend New Market. Once you stand where the Federal guns were and see the terrain you know that they had to be charged frontally and how arduous that would be.
