Volunteer Hours Question

I have a question regarding civic involvement/volunteers hours.

I have ~300+ hours of volunteer hours. ~260 of them are in coaching two sports-a winter sport and a summer sport. I really enjoy coaching kids and would like to coach for life (not professionally of course).

For NHS (national honor society) we need to have 15 more hours by April. This is not a problem because I coach a team of 3rd graders that is over that amount of hours. For NHS hours, coaching (as long as it is not for $) counts for volunteer hours.

Here is my question-Is it thought negatively- with regards to admissions-that most of my hours is related to sports? Should I be volunteering at a hospital or with animals etc.?

Gocubsgo - I wouldn't worry too much about the type of community service you are doing. It is really more about the hours you have contributed to help others out of what is typically a hectic schedule for most candidates between school and sports. In the bigger picture it is the commitment to service, work ethic and time management that are the key aspects of your volunteer work not the specific organization or cause.
