VP Nom Recommendation

DS just received letter from USNA stating his packet has been sent to the Vice President's office. How does the VP nom work--does the VP nominate whomever the USNA recommends? Also, DS had already received noms from senator & US rep--is it safe to assume that this means USNA wants son to attend, but his MOC slots were already filled? I don't want to read too much into this, but am cautiously optimistic that this is a good sign...
 
Oops--never mind. Should always read the letter myself instead of relying on DS's interpretation. Nothing has been recommended to VP's office--DS just received the standard "we've been notified that you've requested a VP nomination" letter. Back to the standard wait & see, lol! (And DS needs to learn to read things more thoroughly, or he'll have a HECK of a time @ Academy, if he gets there!)
