Hi All: Looking for an explenation. My son is very much interested to became a Navy Officer and he would like to go the USNA. He is a sophomore, graduating from HS in spring 2016 (so, if he is lucky, going to the Academy in Summer 2016). If he would like to ask for a VP nomination he needs to apply the year before the year is planning to go to the academy (so, in his case 2015). However application should be submitted in the period March-January. Does that mean that for Academy satring in Summer 2016 he should apply for VP nomination in the period March 2014-January 2015 or march 2015-January 2016?

During his senior year, so that would be during the 2015-2016 school year. Of course there are many other things that need to be done prior to that. He can start the academy application process the spring of his junior year.
