There is a touching picture of a cadet, Alex Granata carrying a candle for his father that was a professor at VT killed during the massacre.

I can't even imagine the emotional strength it took to do this, not only as a son, but as a cadet.

In Blacksburg, the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets was to conclude the day by standing guard for 32 minutes prior to the 11.59pm snuffing of a ceremonial candle.

As a parent of a Hokie, for those posters that are a Hokie or will become one in the fall, these pictures really illustrate why they are known to be such a close knit community.

That picture just breaks your heart. He lost his father at 13 or 14. Just breaks your heart.

My sister went to VT in the 1970s. She loved the school. I visited several times. Nicest people in the world.
