Wait For It...Wait For It! eesh

Nothing in today's mail. Hubby is taking the boys and me to see Clash of the Titans tonight to get my mind of Coast Guard (and I'm sure to get "off the juice" as well.) It's such a strange feeling approaching the mailbox and wanting to see inside, but also not wanting to see inside. I know you guys can relate. Three more mail days to finish out the week. -officer

P.S. You know you're a CGA junkie when seeing Objee's little green indicator light lit brings joy to your day.

Hope you enjoyed the movie. My almost-teen loved it. Said there wasn't much of a plot, but lots of fighting! I went next door with a pal and saw a sappy chick flick! Everyone wins.

To all who wait....may this week bring the BFE. If not, may the back up plans be good ones! Having been in the two-round club myself, I can safely say that the extra year at home was a HUGE benefit for our son and for his Dad and me. Of course we couldn't really see it immediately, but honestly it worked out beautifully.

Thank you, Shellz,

You always seem to know when to post...when we, who are waiting, need to hear it! I spoke with my son today about his back-up plan, and he is really comfortable with his choices. I only want to support him...I want him to be where he wants to be!!

Thanks for continuing to hang out with us...we really, really, appreciate it!!

Thanks Shellz,

Our back-up Plan B is solid and we have extended family whom are alumni of Texas A&M Corps of Cadets. So needless to say, they are pretty hyper about the Aggie option. Thank you for answering all my frantic PM's and helping all of us here; you're a treasure for certain. Stay cool beach momma:thumb: -officer

thanks

Thanks to everyone for their support. It was very quiet in the house last night. Very tough on him and us. We were very hopeful, he scored very HIGH at AIM and on his PFE..Three varsity sports, 200 hours of community service. 3.71 GPA Only applied to Coast Guard. He really wanted to play lacrosse at USCGA after meeting the coach and players last year and at AIM. he is disppointed to say the least. This is what he wanted and now must re adjust. good luck to everyone in 2014 and beyond. he is going to contact admissions to see what he can do, but right now the pain has to subside.

Under my picture in my senior yearbook it says CG Academy. That was 1978. I applied, took the physical everything looked good-then I found out my math scores were not high enough. My hopes were dashed. We didn't have the benefit of all the information we have today ie internet, forums etc.-Didn't know about ROTC, Prep schools retaking SAT etc. If I knew then what I know now....
So what did I do- I enlisted in the Coast Guard and became a Hospital Corpsman for 13 years and had a lot of amazing experiences. I met my wonderful husband of 26yrs and have 3 great kids(who are going to college) and I'm now pursuing a RN degree.
A motto that has helped me over the years is "No missed opportunities"

Keep looking forward-continue to do good-consider others more highly than yourself-if this one didn't work out there is a better one out there for you.

MDLAX DAD - If USCGA is what your son wants, have him look into MMI Marion Military Institute or (NMMI) New Mexico. The (SAP) Service Academy Prep program does have non-sponsored students enrolled. Good Luck!:thumb:

No news in Colorado as of yesterday PM... son has signed up for AFA orientation next week and is leaning that way should USCGA not come through

Good advice....but also consider your local CC if private military college isn't an option. Taking a strong 4/c-like course load and doing well, plus retaking SAT, and adding a new sport did the trick for our two time applicant.

Keep the Faith

Son was deferred from EA and received an appointment in the mail on Monday, April 4th!

CONGRATS to your son! Nice to see a happy post...nice to see that some appointments are still going out! Will he be accepting?

Congratulation to your Son! Good news that that the appointments are starting to be mailed out, the waiting will be over soon and then on to decision making. DS is on his way to USMMA for overnight this weekend and then USNA later this month. Its hard to call them plan B if the USCG doesn’t work out for him. I told him to refer to them as plan A and the USCG as A+. No news in todays mail.

Congrats to everyone who has received an appointment so far!! To those who received the dreaded TWE, I am sorry and I feel your disappointment. I sincerely encourage you to reapply if the Academy is truly what you want.

To all those waiting, I am still right there with you. All of my documents (PFE, updated medical forms, transcripts) had to be in by 1 April so I'd say the rest of my medical deferral friends and I will have a bit of a wait. I'm still crossing my fingers and praying for a waiver. I have started stalking my mailbox again now that all of my forms are in, it is such a weird feeling of deja vu to go through the waiting process twice. Good luck to everyone!

As mentioned in a previous thread, my son officially accepted his Appointment to the USCGA Class of 2014 the other day. We are all thrilled for him. My prayers are with all those still waiting to hear. My heart skips a beat when I see both happy and sad postings. Hang in there folks. I would be honored to stand next to any of you on R Day as we watch our children be sworn in (gulp...is it really on 80 days away???).

Thinking good things for ya, TAF08! Class of 2014 wouldn't be the same without you. :thumb:

...and glad to hear that the back up plan is good. that takes a lot of stress off, i'm sure.

Nothing from CGA in today's mail. The only thing we've received to date is a TWE from AFA. -officer

Nothing for us either officer. I have to work tomorrow...thinking of coming home at lunch just to check the mail! LOL! Good luck to everyone still waiting.
