Wait List Class of 2018

The class of 2018 portal looks to be shut down. DS got new login info for class of 2019 and is starting the application process again.

I believe my son received an email a week or two ago informing him of a new password to access the portal. He is Class of 2018.

So did my DS - new password does not open. Nothing in the mail today. Anyone else still in limbo with USNA?

My son was told his packet was mailed June 6th. We still haven't received anything by mail or email.

I would suggest contacting the admissions office at the academy then, cause it should of been there by now.

DS received TWE from USNA today after being waitlisted. I continue to be amazed at the quality of the applicants to the SAs. He is off to USAFA next week and is beyond thrilled. Thanks to all posters who have provided guidance and inspiration this past year to him and his often stressed-out parents.

That's good news/bad news RedDragon - good to hear he has the Service Academy attitude! What CBT Squadron is he in? Maybe he and my DS will get to know each other.

I know what you mean about the stressed out parent comment! ;>)

The wait is over. The mailbox was left unchecked until 9:30 pm and the TWE was waiting at the bottom. DS is taking OK - his first response was "Beat Navy"! Proud as hell of my new Cadet and can't wait until he goes OFF INTO THE WILD BLUE YONDER!

ProudNHopeful.....he will be a Demon for BCT. He is enjoying these last few days with friends and running a lot. Wife and I are looking forward to a few days in Colorado with him before I-Day.

My daughter received her TWE two days ago. She was one of the kids with a principal nom. Disappointed but no regrets!

My DS received his TWE on Monday as well. Disappointed but will try again for the class of 2019! Off to Penn State ROTC! Good luck to all those with their secondary plans and to the class of 2018...may we all join you next year!

So sorry for the path to end this way for so many, but glad that these great kids can switch gears and keep pushing forward with their goals.

I keep hearing about kids with principal noms not getting admitted. Im confused, I thought they had to be admitted.

That has certainly been the opinion for years around here. Evidently there is a new interpretation of what a principal nomination actually means. Not sure if this is just a USNA interpretation due to an error this year or whether other SAs are likely to follow suit.

Yes, I am still on the waitlist and have heard nothing, even an email to admissions hasn't been answered in 2 days. Just a reminder I am a principal nominee.

Yes it's quite common this year. However a West Point admissions guy I talked to told me if I had the principal to army instead of Navy I would have been in no matter what.

Our DS received the TWE yesterday...His plan B is to attend Truman State on a 3 yr AD scholarship with AROTC. He is finally relieved that he knows the answer and can plan for college instead of going through the motions in case he opened the mailbox to find the BFE. However he is happy and excited about his next chapter. His comment was "I will still be defending my country which is what I have wanted all along" can't argue with that!

I found this forum late in the game and I can say it has given so much insight and information to the whole process of SAs or ROTC. We all should be extremely proud of our kids for choosing this path and all the work that went into it. As one post stated early on, applying to a SA is NOTHING compared to just applying to college.

Best of luck to all who are still in the game and to all the parents who have seen their child through this process. They will succeed! Go Army
