What would happen if I accept my appointment to USCGA but am then offered a spot off the wait list at another school? I know if you do this for a civilian school you simply break the deposit of where you committed but what are the repercussions of doing this for a service academy? A family friend who's daughter goes to USCGA said nothing is binding until you take the oath on R-Day.

While that is technically true, you are keeping a slot from someone who really wants it. CGA requests your decision by May 1, just like other schools.

I did not think of that. I now understand the weight of the situation and will try to make a moral decision so I do not waste an opportunity someone else wanted.
