@Objee Applicant Handbook states "Approximately 75-100 applicants who are not selected for an appointment by April 1st will be offered a spot on our wait list."

Is that 75-100 applicants on the USCGA wait list and another 75-100 applicants on the CGAS wait list?

Or is it only a grand total of 75-100 applicants on both wait lists combined? If so, can you provide the total number of applicants on each list?

Thanks.

Separate waitlists are maintained for direct (Class of 2024) and CGAS appointments with applicants being informed in their decision letters which list they are being offered a spot on. The applicants have until 4/15 to accept their spot, so we won't know how many are on each waitlist until that date, but 120 were offered for direct and 99 for CGAS this year. Slightly higher than normal since there is more uncertainty this year with both yield rates and medical qualifications due to COVID-19.

If they accepted more students for CGAS then the waitlist chances are smaller and the chances of proceeding to the CGA are smaller correct?

I am not sure I understand your question. The number of people directly attending the academy and those attending CGAS are very consistent year on year. This year wait lists for both are bigger than usual simply because the academy suspects more people will be appointed from the waitlist due to COVID-19 impact on getting medicals etc completed on time.

@Objee Can you please provide an update on CGAS Waitlist since 4/15 deadline has passed?

Number on CGAS waitlist currently?

Number of CGAS appointments that have been accepted to date and approximate number of CGAS appointments that will be filled this year?

Thanks

I'm sure they are unable to share the number of slots available, but it would be interesting to know with the innumerable factors affecting students and acceptances this year, how many are still in the running.

Thanks
Was there ever a reply from @Objee regarding your inquiry into the number of USCGA applicants still waiting and willing to be considered for appointments?

No numbers, but I did receive an update on when movement from CGAS Wait List may occur.

The Director of Admissions can fill individual spots or convene a board to fill multiple vacancies. If you're on the CGAS waitlist, you should have received a message this morning with an update and request for additional information about your interest level. We're hoping to be able to tender some additional CGAS appointments later this week or early next week.

Thanks. It will be interesting to see how many candidates are still hanging in there on the waitlist
