I have received a four year NROTC scholarship at my first choice school, however I have been waitlisted at that school. Is there anything I can do to reach out to the school that might help me get my acceptance? Or should I begin the process of transferring my scholarship to another NROTC Unit at a school where I have been accepted?

Shooting the NROTC department an email and requesting some support couldn't possibly hurt. However, knowing wait-lists, it's probably time to start looking at alternatives... Sorry about the bad news.

I would call the battalion, not just email. Ask if they can be of any assistance in helping you clear the waitlist. Also find out how full the battalion's entering class is. It is probably prudent to transfer the scholarship to the school he is already admitted to, but you would want to know up front how likely it would be to transfer it back if you clear the waitlist.

Speak to both admissions and the NROTC unit regarding your status before making any moves.

just an update for anyone in a similar situation needing advice:
I contacted my first choice school to which I was waitlisted and explained my situation directly to one of their admissions councilors and the unit contacts I had. They told me their very slim chances of getting off the waitlist so I continued on with my second choice school to which I was accepted. I sent the waitlisted school updated grades and reminders of my situation so I stayed fresh in their minds about once or twice a month until June, while still continuing to apply to my second choice school. I found that although the units fill up astroturfing at schools, it was not nearly as fast as I thought and had my first choice school accepted me it would have been relatively easy to transfer everything. That being said, I am so happy to be attending that second choice school now this week and am glad with how everything turned out!
