As a parent, I have never experienced anything with as many ups and downs as the Service Academy process. We all want the best for our kids and we all, probably, feel that our DS or DD is the premier candidate. We all feel like they've done their best in the process and have given all that can be expected, so why shouldn't they get in?

In any case, our DS got an acceptance to USMA. The pro? He got an acceptance! The con? It is his #4 SA.

I know, I know, there are tons of applicants waiting with baited breath to get into just one SA and here I am whining that my son got into one but it wasn't his first pick (this harkens back to the "starving kids in china" I used to hear when I was a lad). He's been nominated for USNA and USAFA as well and applied for USCGA, and we are hopeful that in the coming weeks we will see something from one or two or three of them. MIT was a no, which didn't sting nearly as bad because he knows he has USMA right there for him, but you know - MIT. It would've been cool just to say he got accepted.

In any case, the wait continues. It isn't near as bad now since we've gotten at least one yes in the process, but we will continue to hold on. Keep practicing patience and keep waiting for the bus - even if the one that shows up might not be exactly the one you wanted to ride!

Still waiting on USCGA? My DS is as well...I can completely understand still wanting the 1st choice..and yet happy to have a great option in hand. Good luck. Same boat here.

Yup - still waiting for USCGA, USAFA, and USNA. He was nominated for USMMA but decided not to finish the application.

EA deferral or RA? My DS submitted Dec 1 but School Counselor didn't get the form in until Feb 6. Email came last Monday that application was being sent in the "next two weeks" to CEEB....so we wait.

He applied for EA and got deferred. Better than a no!
