Waiting Game

I just received a phone call from an admissions counselor (I assume) at Air Force Academy, she let me know that they have just started reviewing applications and said that we should know by the end of April.

I thought it was THE phone call, I was sooo excited 😂
yeah, what a strange thing for them to say. Going through the bulk or not, that's still a really weird way to word it. I'm pretty sure I saw you on another thread as a re-applicant as well, do you think maybe (if she knew) that's what she was referring to? A lot of us re-applicants are in the dark as to when our stuff comes out, and i'm hoping we hear some good news soon.

I talked to my ALO about something different and she did mention that they are pretty far behind so I think anlee may be correct that they are just now stepping up the pace, maybe for the big wave?

that is what I would assume. Because looking at last year, majority of falcon scholar people were like mid Feb. Most of them just now got it

👌🏻
Btw, where you part of FVE? Just out of curiosity!
No but I did attend summer seminar a few years back. (Not too familiar with Falcon visitation)
Can I ask when you finished your application?
Definitely, I was finished mid-November except for a teacher's letter of rec, which unfortunately didn't end up being submitted until January- about a week before the due date. Since there's nothing in person, I couldn't really bother my professor to get my rec in (besides emailing).

That's what I was thinking also. This is my third time applying so hopefully this gives some insight into how things are moving along. The phone call was unexpected, so I have no idea... very strange. I haven't had contact with admissions either, but it was nice of them to check in. She asked if I had any questions which I appreciated.

wish I got that kind of service lol. I've always had to borderline harass them with phone calls for them to do so much as pick up the phone (i know i know, they're working from home). That was the next thing I was gonna ask, it's even weirder that you didn't even ask them anything, they just told you...

I received a call from admissions in January. (They just wanted to make sure that I finished my application because I went to FVE, etc.) When you receive that call, you aren’t yourself! You go into a shock of a yes/no sir or ma’am, like I like to call it. It’s like time stops for some reason; when you look back you tell
yourself, “Did I just speak with USAFA admissions? Why didn’t I ask x,y, & z?”. So the weirdness is present, indeed!

Back when something similar happened to me (regarding my college transcript not being received, the joys of covid), I had only received a portal update/email saying that my application was "in danger" of being closed had I not completed it. Never got a call.

Exactly what happened!! I was in a lecture also haha, so I was completely thrown off guard :spacecraft:

Good luck everyone! Just wondering, for those set on attending USAFA, what's the main motivation? Does everyone have a specific Air Force career in mind or is there some other reason?
Astro Eng @ the academy and go into the Space Force! I really don't care what in the USSF, but I'm very interested in propulsion systems rn. I'm. sure my interests will really mature over the next for years (hopefully) at USAFA.

Pilot Slot (ENJJPT hopefully) 100%. Building hours right now to help with my PCSM down the road.

Also a top AeroEng School with a great propulsion program as well as hypersonics.

Wow we have very similar paths! I'm planning on going to ENJJPT too if I get there. One of the reasons I want to go to the Academy is the fact that I get to be with so many similarly minded individuals :)

Majoring in Aerospace Engineering (what I'm currently majoring in college), Fighter/Bomber Pilot Slot. Want to be either an F22, A-10, or B1 Bomber pilot, whichever roll needs filled.

Based on my DS's experience, a letter will be posted in your portal from admissions informing you they have requested a waiver on your behalf. Then your DoDMERB will update. Then they will contact you if they want more information for the waiver consideration.
Do they always require additional paperwork or information if they request a waiver? Or do they just request a waiver and you're all set for the medical situation?

It depends on what you were DQ’d for. If DODMERB already requested a lot of AMI before the DQ, then maybe not. If they did not, then the waiver authority may request more to support a waiver. Just expect that you will need to provide a lot of paperwork. If you do not need to provide any, then it will be a sweet surprise.

The appointment list has been mighty quiet as of late. Out of curiosity, do appointment offers tend to slow down near end of the week?

From what I’ve seen from past threads, candidates typically receive a notification from USAFA on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. (Don’t quote me on this! It’s just an observation!)

I posted this earlier today on the recent AFROTC thread. 2nd Board results were suppose to come out today, "on or about the 5th". Thought I would also post it here as DS (and me...lol) is waiting to hear from Annapolis. This song keeps coming to mind. You applicants have probably never heard it unless your parents listen to classic rock, but its a good one!

Based on what I can tell, they are fairly far behind. Appointments trickle in about a week before they go in the portal. (For direct appointments) And we haven't even started that for the big dump yet. Also, they delayed next years application. Another big sign.
