Waiting Game

USAFA routinely offers appointments to candidates with initial disqualifications from DODMERB. If such an appointment is issued the appointee will be told that his/her appointment is "conditional" on receiving a waiver. That process then must work its way to completion.

TheWaterConsumer ..... not sure if this answers your question?

will i be told that my waiver request is denied or will I not hear anything until the TWE?
Per a previous thread in DoDMERB, if a decision is made on your waiver, then you should receive an update whether it is Granted, Denied, or Additional AMI's. (Assuming you have already been informed by the SA that a waiver has been requested on your behalf.) If they have informed you they have requested a waiver, then they must deem you competitive, so it would make sense that they would complete the review. Good luck!

Edited to Add: My DS received notice in his portal that a waiver had been requested on his behalf. It asked him to confirm he was moving forward with his application and asked that he respond ASAP to any requests for additional information from DoDMERB. He was then informed when the AMI's were complete, and the information was being reviewed by the SA authority. After their review, THEN you will be notified of Granted, Denied, or Additional AMI's. Hope this clarifies.

Will portals be updated tomorrow notifying candidates if they've been appointed to USAFA or not?
Well, Insider has told us that the majority of offers are being posted to portals this week. Insider is literally an insider (they work for Admissions), so their word is pretty much law. They didn't give us a specific date for the wave, but most of us who received calls this week were told March 17, so I would count on it.

That being said, if you aren't being offered an appointment this year, you probably won't hear until late April. This lets admissions offer more appointments to those who didn't get in on the first wave. So if you don't hear anything tomorrow, it doesn't necessarily mean you aren't getting appointment. You'll know for sure in a few months whether or not you get in.

Aside from that, only worry about what you can control. Senior year is tough (especially during covid, the pandemic started right when decisions were being made last year, so I know what you feel), so keep focusing on that!

I just want to say what a journey this has been. I'm hoping for good news and I wish all for everyone that hasn't heard back will find out soon. I'm just a little disappointed I never got a cool phone call from my Congresswoman when I received my appointment to West Point. I am so nervous and I wish the best for all of you.

I didn't get a call either -- but there was definitly a cool shock factor when I did my routine portal check and the appointment was just there. Best of luck to everyone!
