Ok it is now almost Dec.15th and we are checking our mailbox daily hoping to see something from VMI in the box. Going to be a long week.

KarenH going to try to send you a PM (never done this before so hopefully it works)

I'm right there with y'all, been checking every day. I'm in state and only 2 or so hours from the school so it's not like mail would take extremely long.

Doing the same thing here....major let down when the mail contains no info. My son has asked that I dont open any mail if I get it before he does. I promised him, tho I am not sure I can respect his wishes. I feel guilty because I am as excited or even more so that he. I will post immediately upon receipt of any VMI mail.

Hang tough...

Resist, resist the urge to rip it open, WeinerDog! Hold it up to the light if you must! (I'll be doing the same!) How exciting it will be for them when they tear into it...

I wont open it. I must admit I'd be very tempted though. I wanna share that moment with him.

Nothing in our mailbox either. Hunt4it is hopeful for tomorrow which means us "west coasters" may be in for a few more days of waiting :(

My fingers are crossed for everyone waiting. You and your child will NOT regret attending VMI. I tell my DS often he was MEANT to be there. We are so thankful to the Corp, dykes, host family, EVERYONE. You will not regret this decision.

12/12/12 is still nothing from VMI. Seems like it's gunna be even closer to the 15th.

I got my notification today, I was deffered to the Regular Admission pool.

the good news is that it is not a no. keep grinding it out and send them great grades from the first semester. good luck to us all

Waitlisting is difficult but hang tight. My daughter was waitlisted (same as defferred) at North Georgia way back in July. She held tight and kept in touch with him and lo and behold she got in last week!

I remember this same time last year. We were waiting and waiting. I called home everyday in the late afternoon but nothing. Then the weekend hit and nothing still. We knew of others who had already received deferral letters so that made it more and more nerve racking!

I called home from work on Monday and my youngest son scoffed and said "No mail again Dad". Then about an hour later, a co worker told me I had someone there to see me. As I look around the corner, i get surprised by my (now) Rat, wife and youngest son...he's holding his acceptance letter and offer of appointment and says "I did it". I then yelled out "YES", shed some tears, hugged him and then we all went out for a celebration dinner. Gives me chills still thinking about it.

Keep the faith...i know the waiting is the hardest part!

Thanks VMIdad for your words of encouragement. I tossed and turned all night wondering and worrying. We are down to the wire now so the words "any day now" are becoming real!

Hang in there - I'm sure it will turn out right and then you will be sweating bullets over the countdown to matriculation! The roller coaster just keeps on going- and then suddenly- you are back at the station, hopefully with a VMI grad in the seat next to you! Keep the faith and just keep on singing the "VMI Doxology" under your breathe: ( "Red white and yellow floats on high, the Institute shall never die. And now Keydets with one voice cry- GOD bless our team and VMI!").
Hang in there- it'll be ok!
