Waiting...???

1964 BGO-Think Fezio was referring to candidates 3Q with nom. Are you saying people who are just 3Q as less then 50% and higher if 3Q w/ nom?

Figure is way off

I'm also 3Q'ed w/2 noms.

I believe a moderator posted awhile ago that 70% of candidates who were 3Qed with a nomination got an appointment... so take a look around folks.

Yeah, 70% is way too high. Going off the stats from last year, about 6,000 applicants received noms. Assuming that all who got noms were 3 q'd, the number is more like 20-25% because they send out 1300-1400 appointments.

All candidates that receive noms are not 3Q- presidential noms are for example are given to any candidate who has a parent who has served and meets the military affiliation requirements- many of those candidates are not competitive or 3Q. I personally know a candidate who has a pres nom who is no way academically qualified for a SA and has already received a TWE. Also, you have to consider medical DQ'S as well as candidates who fail the CFA. MOC do not typically have that info when doing interviews but are more likely to have the academic profiles. A MOC can give a candidate a nom and that candidate maybe DODMERB DQ.... I have read that typically 2000 +/- are 3Q w/ nom and yes, around 1400 appointments.

I know that number seems really unrealistic. Just saw it stated on the forum before.

Good to hear

Well I really hope that stat is accurate. It's hard to imagine that out of over 20,000 applicants only 10% 3Q and have noms. Then again, the acceptance rate is around 8%, so I guess it makes sense.

I saw somewhere that the academy narrowed it down to around 2000 qualified applicants for the class of 2015, so that is possible. However, you have to take into account the things that can be fixed with other applicants like a medical waiver. That was all I needed, and I got that because people can get DQ'd by DODMERB over weird stuff. I am assuming that a lot of people are waiting though because on the facebook page there are a lot of people who have heard nothing and finished the app super early. Don't lose the faith!

Waiting too!

NC-08, the waiting game continues for my DD! TWE came last week, what a scare! It contained a letter stating that her name was forwarded for a VP Nominee. ???

I have heard of several who received he VP nom letter. My DS has not received it even though he did apply for it. He does have 2 noms already but wondering it the fact he didn't get the VP letter means anything? Ok, probably over thinking this..l:eek:

My DS also received the VP letter & first misread it thinking it meant his file was being submitted for a VP nom. It actually stated that the USNA received confirmation from the VP's office that he had applied for the nom. Now the USNA has to determine who they might want to recommend for a VP nom. SO, the waiting continues. :)

For what it's worth, things are super tight in OH13 and OH14 both districts have produced one appointment, but there are several highly qualified candidates still waiting for some action. Best wishes to all of you - less than a month to April 15 when Admissions hopes to apprise all remaining active candidates of their status for USNA 2016.

If I may ask, where did you obtain this information, specifically in regard to OH13?

Still waiting in TX-26. 3Q with Sen nom. USNA application completed in Aug. Received Marine Corps ROTC Scholarship in Dec.

Still waiting

Still waiting in ky. 3 q'd with nom-1st congressional district. App completed since mid November. The waiting is hard. Does anyone know when TWE is sent out normally?

I got the dreaded TWE today. It said that that they were unable to offer me an appointment to the academy or prep school. Then pretty much said that a significant number of their midshipman were not offered an appointment on their first attempt, but were admitted to the academy after one or more years of college. It ended saying about the other paths of becoming a naval officer (rotc, ocs, etc).

As much of a disappointment this was, we should all realize that alot of us were qualified this year and unfortunately with the class size was being cut back, not everyone could be admitted. Being rejected is not a reflection of failure, it is just motivation to try harder the second time. Besides, going to college and doing well will show them that each of us can handle the academic responsibility and it will make us more competitve against high school seniors applying next year. I know I'm going to re-apply next year. Good Luck to everyone else! :thumb:

I'm curious if you were 3Q'd. Someone had mentioned they thought the TWEs haven't gone out to 3Q'd candidates yet. Just trying to verify. Best wishes in college and your app next year!

Everyone who has made it this far definitely has bragging rights! You have applied to one of the "Ivy League" colleges and were found to be qualified to attend. This particular college's acceptance rate is low, they are very picky. Any one of you that has made it thus far, but gets a TWE, needs to apply to the other school of your dreams, Harvard, Yale, Duke, MIT, wherever. That is really how good you are. A TWE is merely a little bump in the road. Try again next year, apply to a different college, or go the ROTC route. Our country would be privileged to have you serve. But just knowing what you've already gone through with the application process, I know you'll all serve our country well, in uniform or not. Look at all you've accomplished over the past few years. You give me hope for the future! ...Just my personal thoughts.

Based on the numbers still waiting, I will hazard a guess that there will be a large mailing tomorrow. The wait is almost over. Other posters were correct about the onerous waiting period. I am hoping not to have to cancel the Annapolis hotel reservations I made for I day and PPW!
