Waitlist Class of 2025

That is encouraging. Any idea how many applicants are on the wait-list?
If there are 200 wait-listed applicants we have a 20% chance,
but if there are only 40 applicants on the wait-list, then awesome we have a 100% chance.
Sorry no idea how many are on the Waitlist

I was on a meeting last night and Admiral Kelly stated that they would be offering approximately 40 applicants on the waitlist full appointments.
Thank you for sharing the information. Approximately 40 applicants on the CGA waitlist. Correct? or Is it for both the CGAS and CGA waitlist combined?

I may have missed something.... Are there TWO wait-lists? One for CGAS and another for CGA direct?
I thought the CGAS list was essentially the over flow from direct appointments.
Hierarchically
285 - Direct appointents
60 - CGAS
nn - CGAS Waitlist

There are two wait lists -- one for the Academy and one for CGAS.

Our DS sent an inquiry as far as timeline. He was originally told by end of week appointments would be offered. Then quickly received email to disregard as it will be multiple weeks before appointments closed; so there is still hope!

So it will be the CGA waitlist. There may be a chance that one or two that have been offered CGAS will have their offers improved to full appointments. I don’t think there is any chance that those on the CGAS waitlist will get full appointments to CGA

Thank you for the clarification.
I am just hoping to make it into CGAS from the CGAS Wait-list. The scholarship I do have covers full tuition only. I can currently only afford 1 semester of self-prep non-tuition expenses, eg, room, board, books uniforms etc; so I have to get an additional scholarship or something to do a full year. By the next year, I may have to go ROTC, but I really only want to go CG.
I did hear something about some good scholourship opportunities at GMC, so I am leaning toward self prep there instead of Univ of North Georgia.

My DS would be happy to get off waitlist for CGAS and be part of CGAS.

We are waiting too-DS was picked for the AIM session last year which was totally remote & due to this, he was just another candidate for the academy-very disappointed that none of the kids last year were given a chance to prove their capabilities. So now we wait and wait-moved to Plan B as we can't waste a year. Are they even going to pick from the waitlist?

According to the 2023 USCG acceptance list,

41) Fly2018/DS/8 May2019/Accepted (waitlist)/TX & ND
42) gobears2023/Self/ 8 May 2019/Accepted (waitlist)/
43)glendjust14/DS/8-May-19/waitlist/Accepted/NJ
44)GoRinty/DS/8-May-19/undecided (wishlist)/(conditional on DoDMERB)/NH
45)KSBoyMom / DS / 10-May-19/ACCEPTED out of CGAS/NAPS/KS

It looks like there were three candidates pulled from the 2023 wait list according to this site. I didn't see anyone pulled from the 2024 list. And it looks like they were all appointed on May 8, 2019.
FYI: My son was pulled off the waitlist on May 25 for class of 2023. We were line 44 in above list. It was his graduation day from HS and was informed whille getting in line for his diploma so keep up the hope!

Thank you--my DS's dream is to attend the academy & I am so praying that he does not get too disappointed-it is said good things happen to those who wait and so we wait..I am getting more grey hairs by the minute

If one does not receive a call or letter this year and one really wants to attend the US Coast Guard Academy. My suggestion is to self-prepare at GMC or MMI. Remember, one cannot incur debt so find a way to self-prepare without incurring debt. If Admissions offers advice, make sure to listen to the advice, and take notes if necessary. It is not a guarantee one will not receive a Letter of Appointment after self-preparing but the Academy really appreciates reapplicants especially those that improve and keep productively busy during the year.

My DD was CGA waitlisted last year, listen to the advice she received, self-prepared herself over the year improving in all ways she could, reapplied, and received her Letter of Appointment during Early Action. She is currently finishing up self-preparation college, will have about a month off, and then off to Swab Summer she goes at the end of June with the Scholars she met while attending.

Just wondering if they started to give appointments from the waitlist this year? Would appreciate if any one has info to post here. Still waiting...

Lol, you don't.
Exactly! And they are a bit busy with graduation week activities right now. Commencement for the class of 2021 is tomorrow. Maybe there will be some movement after that. I'm not sure what the final date is for the medical waivers. That is probably the biggest obstacle. There are usually quite a large number of applicants that have been offered a conditional appointment. Whether there is space to pull from the waitlist partially depends on how many of those applicants are given waivers.

Lol, you don't.
Also, time to get use to the COC (Chain of Command), contact the civilians and lower grade officers first before contacting the Flag Officer. However, you shouldn't really bug them regarding if one made the list because that can have adverse results too. But always start at the bottom of the chain before reaching out to the top for the best results.

I understand that it is hard and frustrating. Been there, done that and have had many sleepless nights because of it. My suggestion If you have questions, is to have your child contact their AO (Admissions Officer), they would be best in answering any questions or to get the answer for you.
