Waitlist Class of 2025

Thank you for keeping all of us who are waitlisted, updated--sometimes i think it would have better if my DS had been declined as he would have moved on and would have had a closure--each day that passes dash our hope and when we are at our deepest bottom, we hear things like this and hope sparks anew. Good luck to your son on all his future endeavors.
Alright i've been lurking on this forum for long enough. Please stop spamming the forum and calm down. Relax a little. If it happens it happens.

I received a decision over night indicating I am wait-listed for CGAS...
I'll take anything I can get, and remain hopeful. I have already sent my acceptance email.

In the mean time I am enrolled at one of the 6 senior military colleges for self prep. I have a full tuition scholarship, and enough money for one semester of all the extra's (room and board, cadet fees, books, uniforms etc.)
Have you heard anything on your waitlist? DS is on CGAS waitlist as well, and as the month closes, we're feeling disappointed.

Nothing yet...but I am prepared to do a year of self-prep, and have that all set. I will wait til the last day before R day.
I have a academic scholourship that covers the self-prep tuition costs, (GMC is an in-state school) and enough savings for one semester covering all the other stuff, but therre are some other funding options with GMC I have to figure out. If I don't make CGAS, I will re-apply for EA and hope for the best. (Applications for 2026 open in July). After that, it's get job for some time to save up more and then go back to Univ North Georgia, and maybe go the ROTC route.

Congrats.
Still hopeing for a call myself ...
Big difference between sponsored prep and self prep.
Keep up the dream, Gus--we are too even though we are seeing the writing on the wall but a small part of us don't want to see it--we will see it clearly tomorrow when the dreaded emails go out

Yes, there is a very big difference in sponsored prep and self prep, but even if you don’t receive a spot in CGAS, the very fact that you were waitlisted is huge for consideration in your next years application. There were several self preps from mmi who were either waitlisted for the class of 2024 or for CGAS...every single one of those cadets received a direct appointment this year. I’m not saying that you guaranteed an appointment after your self prep year. The only people who have the right to make that decision is the admissions board. But something clicked with the CCEB when they saw your packet. There are very few people who make the waitlist, let alone the CGAS waitlist...Showing the board that you committed to a year of prep DESPITE not receiving a sponsorship is a big measure of character that will certainly be visible next year!

Sure hope so.
You sir are an inspiration indeed.
When you re-applied, Did you apply for EA or RA while at Marion?
EA seems early because first trimester grades may not even be available yet by the EA deadline

I re-applied under RA. Whether you do so or not is up to you, but I’ll offer my personal insight. From MMI, there were only 2 people out of the almost 40 CGA self preps who applied for early action; they only did this because it was at the request of their admissions officer. Both were appointed in the EA pool, but these two cadets were outstandingly qualified both academically (4.0 GPA) and athletically (250+ PFE). I am unfamiliar with the academic rigors of GMC, but at MMI only a very small handful of CGA self preps received a 4.0 GPA, separating them from most others. That being said, if I don’t hear anything from CGA either today or tomorrow, I’ll be applying for a 3rd time under RA unless I’m told different by my AO.

On a separate note, you academics at the foundation school are CRUCIAL to your chances at an appointment. In my opinion, the longer you have to strengthen your grades, the better your chances. Taking an SAP course load as a self prep (physics, chem, pre calc, English, mil sci, PT) was a culture shock for almost all the preppers this year, myself included. Generally, the beginning of the year is difficult, as many are overwhelmed with the level of work, teachers, and new environment that you will be placed in. That being said, grades for many started off poorly and slowly improved as you get used to your classes.

I’ll use myself as an example:

My high school GPA was a 3.9 (unweighted), 4.3 (unweighted). I’m no stranger to AP and honors classes as I took many of them throughout my years in high school.

My midterm grades for Semester 1 at MMI with the SAP courseload was a tragic 2.8 GPA. But as the semester grinded on, I learned how to handle work, hunker down, and steel myself for finals.

My final GPA for semester 1 ended at a 3.29 GPA, a marked improvement.

So to make a very long explanation short, I would take caution in applying for EA. Remember, it does not matter how soon or how late you get a phone call: What matters is that you make yourself the absolute best applicant you can possibly be with the resources your given.

I believe that the waitlist is probably closed but has anyone received an email saying that the class of 2025 is closed? Just wondering.

I am on the CGAS waitlist, but have not heard anything. I presume I am still on the waitlist until I hear otherwise. I know they have been quite busy lately. Maybe soon they will separate out a subset of the wait-list to be short listed to wait down to a few days before.

It's hard waiting because I know I will be very successful as a CGAS student, (sometimes you know what is coming and you know yourself enough that you "just know").

I know it sure would be nice having that year of service, the pay, and not have to go through the full app process again. Academics would go better without those issues to worry about.

Nothing yet- I tried calling my AO about this earlier this week and got sent to voicemail- does anyone know if admissions is still working from home?

Just an update from our side-when we did not hear anything after 6/4, my DS went through various stages of grief, denial, anger, resentment ,shed some copious tears & reached out to his AO-she came back congratulating him on his Plan B(which further validated the obvious, that he is not part of class of 2025) & wanted to talk to him on reapplication for next year. He reached out with his availability but yet to hear from her. The initial waitlist email had mentioned that everyone will be notified no matter what but no email so far. So our journey has come to an end. The one good thing that came out it was my DS's resolve to try again as we were afraid he will not to do & we are hoping that he works harder, better and stronger in his freshman year at NU & his second go around with the USCGA will work out for him. Thanks for everyone who wished us well and good luck to @GeorgiaGus ,@MrFiggs,@Suski & all others who were kind enough to understand & not attack me as "spamming". Prayers and good wishes

Just got email from CGA that they will not be able to tender an appointment for Class of 2025 and encouraged me to reapply for 2026. I guess I have to re-evaluate my options. If I reapply, I will be 2 years removed from HS graduation. I have to weigh if re-applying next year is better than graduating in 2 years and going the OCS route. Will be grateful if anyone can post suggestions or things I may have to consider in my thought process. Good luck to all.
