Waitlisted for USNA summer seminar - still fill out preliminary application?

Hi,
My daughter got waitlisted for the USNA summer seminar. Does she still need to fill out a preliminary application? She hasn't received any follow up emails on next steps in application process or a candidate number.

In the past the app for summer seminar has served as the preliminary app for admissions. When all else fails go to USNA site and follow explicit instructions and guidance in these matters.
Could change between admission cycles.
Also; it is very early in the cycle.
During our DS cycle who is 2024 he didn’t receive a candidate number until after June 1.
 
Our son received an email about being added to the waitlist as well. However, it went to the spam folder and not the normal inbox. Luckily he checked. This week we met a USNA helicopter pilot alum (just retired) who did CVW and Summer Seminar both- said the USNA helped make him the solid/upstanding person he is today. Our son is hopeful to have the Summer Seminar experience. We shall see.

The SS application serves as her preliminary application. Admissions website says: "Your Summer Seminar application will also serve as a preliminary application to the Academy that you will complete before or during your senior year.". Best to have your daughter do the research on questions like this. The more she does ... the more she will learn about USNA-and be able to talk intelligently with BGO's, Admissions and MOC representatives. Her primary source for information should be USNA website, including the class profile. The Admissions chat is also useful for specific questions. Now wait for a candidate number to be assigned. Start working on: 1. Essays 2. Talk to guidance counselor 3. Make a connection with Math and English teachers (for evaluations). Get thier summer personal e mail addresses now. 4. It's perfect timing for preparing for the CFA, run, run, run and run some more. Good luck.
