Don't give up hope! DD was waitlisted RA last year. First we channeled our energy into Semper Paratus mode - got everything ready, including a new passport, additional required vaccinations, etc. Unfortunately, she was not called from the waitlist.
It was OK. She has spent the last year strengthening every area possible in her application. Better SAT scores. More leadership activities. Rigorous college classes, keeping those grades high. Working three part-time jobs, so more money in the bank. Most important, though, was more research into the service branches, which resulted in full commitment to the Coast Guard alone. I know there are other reapplicants out there who have similar stories to share, and they are rooting for each other!
I'm sure every one of you would make awesome cadets next year or the CGA wouldn't have included you on their waitlist. However, if you don't get an appointment this year, you will be an even stronger candidate - and cadet - next year. Stay the course!
