I just got the word that I've been waitlisted. I'm a little disappointed, but I have a solid plan B. Can anyone provide information about last year's waitlist and the chances of getting off the waitlist.

DS ...3yrs ago was waitlisted Dec 24. Feb was move to scholar. April was given conditional appointment. May 5 was given full appointment.

Last year at MMI 6 self preppers got in by April 1 and 4 were waitlisted 3 of 4 got appointments from the waitlist.

I have accepted the Air Force Academy appointment. I truly appreciate the Coast Guard considering me and I declined the waitlist. I loved my time at AIM and loved the area.

Question for you. after your DS was offered a Conditional appointment/ Scholar and changed to a Direct Appt to The Academy? So does that mean there’s a possibility my DS can still get a Direct Appt?

I was wondering the same thing. I was offered and a full appointment to CGAS after EA decisions were released in January and accepted my offer as for I am extremely excited. I am a recruited athlete as well. When I spoke to my admission offer when I first received the appointment, he told me that there is a chance to be pulled up. What I am wondering is that if pulling cadets up from the Scholar Program is common?

Everything I have been told or read is the Scholar program is a wonderful year and fully gets you ready for the the 4 years of academic year. It is a good thing and a process to take full advantage of. You will be ahead of the game when you start the 4 years.

DS applied EA last year, recruited athlete, was waitlisted Dec 24th. Accepted to ROTC programs in other schools, but decided to self-prep at MMI. By mid-May he was focused on MMI and had already visited there, selected courses, etc. Then got called off waitlist. He knows many MMI Prep students, if USCGA is your first choice, that is a good route to go. Self-prep is no guarantee, but if you stand out, it is possible. If you outwork and outscore the SAP cadets, your chances are very good that way.
