My question is if USNA and NROTC have the same waiver authority for purposes of medical qualification through DoDMERB? I have researched this on the forum and there are differing answers and nothing has been posted recently. I apologize if I missed a recent discussion. I know that USAFA and AFROTC are different waiver authories and wondering about USNA and NROTC. Thank you!

They are separate. While getting one to waive is a good indication that the other might, there have been several cases on here where one did and the other didn't, in either direction.

DS received NROTC waiver a couple weeks before USNA's. He expected to get USNA's but needed to prepare (housing, etc) for NROTC school in case he didn't.

By the way, USAFA and AFROTC use the same waiver authority, AFRS/AMWD ... this article is about their formation in ~ 2021:

Thank you for sending this article. If they use the same waiver authority, then why do people say they get different results from USAFA and AFROTC? If you get a waiver from one, shouldn't you be waived for both? I would assume that they would work in connection and the results should be the same between USAFA and AFROTC if they use the same waiver authority. Just curious your thoughts on this.

In my experience, the group has provided consistent results for both programs. Details between individuals and their medical conditions will vary so decisions on a common condition may look different, but I imagine AFRS/AMWD knows exactly why one waiver is given and the other is not. They do not share their reasons as far as I can tell.

We were told that, for very competitive candidates, USAFA admissions has an internal process for review when the group denies waivers
